   metric
      A metric is a measurement of a value which is of a specific :term:`metric type`.

      Example: “Resting heart rate” is a measurement of the heart rate which would
      have a :term:`metric type` of “Beats per minute”.

   metric entry
      A record of a :term:`metric` in the database.

   metric instance
      A concrete :term:`metric` must have an instance. The instance gives it its name
      and :term:`metric type`.

   metric type
      Every :term:`Metric` has a type which represents its unit of measurement.
      Types include “Beats per minute”, “Kilogram”, “Scale of 10” etc.
